Dr. Ugo Ukpabi, C.Dir., K.C., is the Founder and Principal of The Republic Law. In recognition of his distinguished service to the legal profession, excellent advocacy, and his contributions to the administration of justice, he was appointed King's Counsel (formerly, Queen's Counsel) in 2022, one of the highest honors bestowed upon members of the legal profession. Dr. Ukpabi earned his doctorate from Osgoode Hall Law School, York University, Toronto, Canada, and as well, was a Grotius Fellow at the University of Michigan Law School, Ann Arbor, USA.

With over two decades of legal and strategic advisory experience, Dr. Ukpabi is highly regarded for his work in corporate, commercial, civil litigation, governance, and international development matters. His practice is distinguished by a commitment to excellence, professionalism, and client-focused advocacy, earning him the respect of clients, colleagues, and stakeholders across multiple jurisdictions.

Dr. Ukpabi has exposure to legal regimes in Nigeria, Geneva, the USA, and Canada. His experience includes advising on cross-border corporate and commercial transactions, governance frameworks, regulatory compliance, capacity development initiatives, and institutional strengthening programs. Dr. Ukpabi has also worked with governments, businesses, and international stakeholders on legal and policy matters relating to economic development and reform.
